Loire Valley

The Loire Valley is referred to as the Cradle of the French and the Garden of France due to the abundance of vineyards and fruit orchards which line the banks of the river.

The Loire valley is best known for the production of white wines like Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, however, there are red wines made (especially around the Chinon region) from Cabernet Franc. Also notably, Loire is the second largest sparkling wine producer in France after Champagne.

Among these different wine styles, Loire wines tend to exhibit characteristic fruitiness with fresh, crisp flavours – especially in their youth. Perfect for drinking now!

Amongst the most famous domaines are Didier Dagueneau (RIP) and Huet.
