Nahe

Nahe is situated along the River Nahe in the state of Rheinland-Pfalz. It lies around the lower part of the river with the same name, between Montzingen and Bingerbrück, by the confluence with the Rhine River. The valley was shaped through a series of geological events that has in turn created a wide variety of soil types within a relatively small area.

Because of these different soil types in Nahe, its vineyards are suitable for a wide variety of grape cultivation and therefore it produces a significant number of wines.

The most common grape variety in Nahe Wine is Riesling, which is cultivated in a quarter of the region’s vineyards. The remaining 75 percent of cultivated ground is used to grow Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner and all the Pinot varieties, together with local typical varieties like: Kerner, Bacchus and Scheurebe, a crossing between Riesling and Bukettraube.
