The last of Bowmore's Vaults Series, distilled in 1969 and bottled in 2021 at fifty years old — 339 bottles for the world, released through airport travel retail at US$42,000. It follows the 1964, 1965 and 1966 in the same series. Distillery manager David Turner: "The 1960s are truly the defining decade for Bowmore distillery." The presentation case is the work of master craftsman John Galvin, modelled on the No.1 Vault, the seaside warehouse where the whisky spent its fifty years.
Bowmore's tasting notes: freesia, geranium and lily of the valley with Chablis, citrus and acacia honey; dry and floral, then lemon meringue, grilled almonds and crème caramel fudge; a lightly sweet, malty finish.

Producer profile
Bowmore is the oldest licensed distillery on Islay, standing on the shore of Loch Indaal. It is one of the few that still malts barley on its own floors — part of what it needs — dried over peat cut from the island's bogs and blended with mainland malt, which is why the spirit sits between the heaviest smoke of Islay's south coast and the lighter malts of its north.
