Bushmills 46YO
The oldest single malt Bushmills has released, drawn from reserves going back to 1978 and matured in oloroso sherry butts from the Antonio Páez Lobato cooperage in Jerez. In Bushmills' words it "pays homage to the River Bush, which has flowed through our story for over 415 years". Two generations of blenders looked after it; Alex Thomas, the second of them: "For 46 years, we've patiently watched over this remarkable liquid." 300 numbered bottles were released in 2025 at US$12,500, in a hexagonal walnut case engraved with the course of the river.
Bushmills' tasting notes: ripe dark fruits, sweet apricot, caramel and warm oak; baking spice, black cherries, raisins, plums and coffee; a smooth, lingering finish of spiced fruit and gentle oak.

Bushmills sits on the north Antrim coast a few miles from the Giant's Causeway. Its history rests on a licence to distil granted by James I to the district's governor, Sir Thomas Philips, in 1608 — the basis of the distillery's claim to be the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world.
