Three extra añejo tequilas made with the Tonalá potters Fernando Jimón and María Elena López. Their decanters — El baile de los nahuales, La proeza del águila, La luna y el conejo — take their green, white and red from barro bandera, a Tonalá pottery style named for the colours of the Mexican flag, which Clase Azul describes as at risk of disappearing. Jimón paints the nahuales, López the flowers. All three are eight and a half years old and first aged in American whiskey casks, then finished apart: Tuscan red wine, fortified wine from Bombarral in Portugal, and Bordeaux Grand Cru Classé. 100 of each decanter were made; in our experience these are exceedingly rare.

Producer profile
Clase Azul was founded in Guadalajara in 1997 by Arturo Lomelí, then a young bar owner. Its tequila is made at a single distillery in Jalisco, from Blue Weber agave grown in the red earth of Los Altos de Jalisco. The decanter is as much the point as the liquid.
