Glenfarclas, Highland Single Malt The Family Casks 50 Vintage Trunk, Speyside

Fifty consecutive vintages from one distillery, 1954 to 2003, with no year missing — every one a single cask. Glenfarclas sales director George Grant, on release: "It is the first — and last — chance to purchase this, as some vintages contained in the trunk are from the last casks of their respective years." 60 trunks were made for the world, at £100,000 in December 2018.

The leather and wood trunk holds the fifty 20cl bottles with Glencairn crystal — four tumblers, four nosing glasses and a water jug — four slate coasters, a replica of the oldest known painting of the distillery, and three leather-bound books: the distillery's history, George Grant's tasting notes for all fifty, and one left blank for the owner's own.

Producer profile
Glenfarclas has stood at the foot of Ben Rinnes since 1836, and John Grant bought it from Robert Hay's estate in 1865 for five hundred and eleven pounds and nineteen shillings. It has been in his family ever since — one of the very few Speyside distilleries of that age still independent.
