Macallan, Speyside Highland Single Malt Tales of the Macallan Volume 1
The first in the Tales of The Macallan series, which honours the people who shaped the distillery — here Captain John Grant, Laird of Easter Elchies. Distilled in 1950 and bottled in 2021 at 71 years old, selected by lead whisky maker Sarah Burgess. 350 decanters were made. The Lalique crystal decanter is concealed inside an 800-page almanac telling Grant's story, bound in leather and gold by Shepherds and printed in Paris by Imprimerie du Marais, with wood-engraved illustrations by Andrew Davidson that are also etched into the crystal.

The Macallan has distilled single malt on the Easter Elchies estate in Speyside since 1824, under one of the first licences granted after the Excise Act. Its character rests on a narrow set of choices held to over generations: curiously small stills, a notably narrow spirit cut, and sherry-seasoned oak the distillery controls closely
