The Macallan Golden Age of Travel: The Airship
The release that closed the series, and the only one not distilled in 1937. The whisky was distilled in 1940 and first bottled in 1975 at thirty-five years old, re-presented in 2019. The Lalique decanter is etched with an airship and finished with a compass-rose stopper. Launch price was US$50,000.
The Golden Age of Travel is a five-part series released by The Macallan in partnership with Lalique between 2015 and 2019, each expression presented in a Lalique crystal decanter evoking one mode of 1930s travel — sea, air, rail, road, and finally the airship. Each decanter is housed in a leather presentation case made by Piñavall of Ubrique, Spain, built in the manner of a period travel trunk. The series was sold exclusively through global travel retail and The Macallan's own boutiques.
