The Macallan Golden Age of Travel: The Motor Car
The fourth release, and the oldest of the four 1937 distillations at thirty-seven years at first bottling in 1974. Re-presented in 2018. The Macallan's own note for this release describes polished antique wood on the nose, an association drawn deliberately from the coachwork of a 1930s motor car.
The Golden Age of Travel is a five-part series released by The Macallan in partnership with Lalique between 2015 and 2019, each expression presented in a Lalique crystal decanter evoking one mode of 1930s travel — sea, air, rail, road, and finally the airship. Each decanter is housed in a leather presentation case made by Piñavall of Ubrique, Spain, built in the manner of a period travel trunk. The series was sold exclusively through global travel retail and The Macallan's own boutiques.
